About the in-person Showcases

DRIFTSONG is a remote hybrid studio offering weekly online lessons paired with in-person recitals. Our student showcases are held in Marin County at least once per semester, though last spring, we had such a good time at our spring recital that I spent another weekend in San Francisco on my way back from Taiwan to throw a “welcome to summer” recital. I make the most of the days I’m back home for these showcases and make time for private songwriting workshops, recording sessions, vocal coaching, and busking opportunities with my students, so let me know in advance if you want to have some extra in-person sessions with me when I’m in the States!

Below are a few video clips from some of our recitals.

Siena: "Driver's License"

Gracie: "Viva la Vida"

Dez: "This is Me"

Revelle: "Someone Like You."

Teagan: "Teardrops On My Guitar"

Eden: "Spanish Interlude"

Bev: "Both Sides Now"

Tamara (& Christian): "Leaving On a Jet Plane"

Grayson: "Stairway to Heaven"

Eden Turner has been my ukulele student for four years now. At our showcases, he often brings his looper pedal and builds his song layer by layer. It’s half improv soloing, half planned, and always exciting to see how it will turn out! Listen to clips from two of his performances below.

featured composers

Two composers debuted new pieces at this past recital. Above is Gavin’s latest composition, which we started together at a private songwriting workshop when I was in town and then continued to build out in our weekly lessons. He has so many brilliant and unusual ideas, and it has been so fun to help him hone his craft in our collaborations.

Nate brought this piece to me already half-finished and had very clear ideas in lessons about which direction it needed to take from there. He played it for us at the showcase without missing a beat, and we all can’t wait to see what he writes next.

Willa is a gem! She has a gentle, encouraging nature and effortlessly connects with her students, individualizing lessons and fostering learning in a structured, supportive manner. Willa inspired a love for music in our 9yo that continues to give him joy, confidence and challenge. The convenience of Zoom lessons was great, but the best part was the live recitals: an utterly heartwarming experience. We could not have asked for a better first music teacher. Thank you, Willa! You make the world a better place.”
